The story behind your reticule
Frozen really began with the crystals.
My sister found them in a little antique shop in northern Sweden, surrounded by ice and snow.
Among them were some wonderful aurora crystals that had once been part of a necklace from the 1960s. I remember thinking that perhaps someone had worn that necklace to her prom all those years ago. I loved the idea of taking something from the past and giving it a new life.
When I started making Frozen, I wanted it to remind me of two things—the sparkle of an old crystal chandelier and the beautiful frozen landscape of a glacier.
The pearls and tiny beads reminded me of freshly fallen snow, and the strands of crystal hanging from the reticule looked like icicles.
I used larger crystals towards the bottom because I loved the way they caught the light, just as ice does in the winter sun.
And hidden amongst all that white and crystal are tiny touches of the Aurora Borealis. You may not notice them at first, but when the light catches them, little flashes of colour appear.
That is what I love most about Frozen. It brings together something old, something beautiful and something found far away, and gives it all a new life.
Every crystal, pearl and bead has had its own little journey before becoming part of this reticule.
And now Frozen begins another journey-with you.
