Purity was inspired by both a vintage reticule and the quiet movement of a river.
I took the pattern of the beadwork from an actual vintage reticule. The strands of beads flow gently down the bag like ripples moving across the water.
Between the beaded sections, I added my own embroidery.
To me, these embroidered areas represent the banks of a river, holding and guiding the water as it continues on its journey.
I chose the name Purity because purity is also a name associated with the Ganges River in India. I wanted this reticule to carry a feeling of peace, grace and timeless beauty.
This piece brings together an old design, my own handwork and the image of a river flowing gently through down the bag like ripples in the water
between the beaded sections, I embroidered the flowers representing the banks of the Ganges River.
The bag is 25 cm in length and width is 14 cm
The beads of the water ripple are vintage antique ivory coloured beads
